Russia wants to provide military assistance to Pakistan





 Russia, one of the world's nuclear powers, wants to provide military assistance to Pakistan in the fight against terrorism. This information has been informed in a report of the international media Voice of America.


Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said his country is ready to provide military assistance to Pakistan. He was speaking at a joint news conference with Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Islamabad on Wednesday (April 7th).


Sergei Lavrov said Russia would enhance Pakistan's capabilities by increasing security cooperation in the fight against terrorism. For this, Moscow will provide special military equipment to Islamabad.


He also said that cooperation between Russia and Pakistan would safeguard the interests of all countries in the region.


The Russian foreign minister said the two countries had agreed to increase joint military and naval operations against terrorism and piracy at sea.


Lavrov arrived in Islamabad from Delhi on Tuesday on a two-day visit. This is the first visit to Pakistan by a senior Russian official in almost a decade.


During the visit, he met with senior officials, including Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Army Chief General Kamar Bajwa.
