Long-distance travel will not continue from tomorrow

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said that public transport will run on Monday and Tuesday, leaving only half of the seats of conditional fare vacant in the city corporation area only. He said long-distance passenger transport would remain closed until further notice.

Obaidul Quader announced the decision at a regular briefing at his official residence on Sunday afternoon. He said the all-out lockdown will start from April 14. The first phase of the ongoing lockdown will continue on April 12 and 13.

A 'lockdown' has been launched across the country since April 5 to combat coronavirus infections. The lockdown was supposed to end tonight at 12 o'clock. According to the new announcement, the lockdown will continue tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. Then from Wednesday will start a more severe and all-round lockdown.

Mentioning that Sheikh Hasina's government is making all-out efforts to deal with the second wave of corona based on the advice of experts, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said the government has announced a lockdown. Obaidul Quader said the government will issue a notification in time with necessary instructions.

Calling on the people of the country to be patient in this time of crisis, the general secretary of the Awami League said, This enchanted world of family and relatives may become unrecognizable. '

Obaidul Quader further said, 'Keep the wheel of livelihood as well as the wheel of livelihood in motion. Put your trust in Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, put your trust in the Creator. Through the efforts and mutual cooperation of all, the world will surely return to its original form after overcoming this epidemic.

The Awami League is making its own history. Regarding the allegations of the BNP leaders, the general secretary of the Awami League said, the Awami League has no factory to make its own history. The Awami League respects the settled truth of history and follows its practice. The pre-independence history achieved through the great war of liberation was distorted. He wanted to compose a fragmented and distorted history by excluding the great hero of the liberation war.

Awami League leader Obaidul Quader further said that just as the sun cannot be covered by the palm of one's hand, the history of independence is also glorious today. Those who were chained at the feet of history, their nature is being unveiled today. That is why they have become reckless, have started the old game and are practicing an undemocratic path.

Earlier, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader paid a gratuity of Tk 3 crore to 242 officers and employees of the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) and joined the exchange of views.

In his address, the Minister said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken various initiatives to take BRTC forward, including the addition of thousands of buses and trucks to its fleet. Now it is necessary to expand the network of BRTC and improve the management skills of the organization.

The Minister further said that considering the plight of the people, the Sheikh Hasina government has decided to introduce conditional public transport on the roads under Dhaka and other city corporation areas. He requested the transport owners' organizations including BRTC to run the transport in compliance with the government instructions.
