Husband and wife's body tied in the canal



Police have recovered the bloodied bodies of a husband and wife from a canal in Madaripur's Kalkini upazila with their hands and legs tied. Two of their bodies were recovered from the Rajarchar area of ​​the Upazila around 12 noon on Friday.


The deceased were identified as Moazzem Sardar, 55, and his wife Maksuda Begum, 50. Their home is in Kolchari Swastal area of ​​Alinagar union of the upazila. Relatives claim Moazzem was a witness in a murder case. A ransom of Rs 200,000 was demanded after the husband and wife were abducted together. The miscreants killed two people for not paying the ransom.


According to police and local sources, Moazzem Sardar and his wife Maksuda Begum were abducted by miscreants from their house at around 3pm on Monday night. They have been missing ever since. Locals informed the police after seeing the bodies of two people floating in a canal in the Rajarchar area around 11am on Friday. Police went to the spot and recovered the bodies of the husband and wife with their hands and feet tied.


Officer-in-charge (OC) of Kalkini Police Station Ishtiaq Ashfaq said the bodies were sent to the morgue of Madaripur Sadar Hospital for autopsy at around 1.30pm today. Efforts are being made to bring those involved in the incident under the law.
