Fasting in Saudi Arabia begins on Tuesday


The curved moon of Ramadan was not seen in Saudi Arabia on Sunday. So the month is going to start from Tuesday for millions of Muslims around the world.

Saudi Arabia's Moon Sighting Committee said on Sunday evening that no Ramadan moon had been seen anywhere in the country. News of Khaleej Times 

The Muslim world generally follows the lunar calendar and uses the traditional method of seeing the moon. As a result, some countries start fasting even after one or two days.

This year, Muslims in the Northern Hemisphere will have to fast during the long summer months. Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam. During this time Muslims took part in various social activities besides worship.

The fast will start on Tuesday in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia and Singapore.

The moon is usually seen in the sky of Bangladesh after one day in the Middle Eastern countries including Saudi Arabia. As a result, fasting and Eid are celebrated in Bangladesh the next day in the Middle East.
