Death of the Director General of the Department of Environment in Coronavirus

 AKM Rafiq Ahmed, director general of the environment department, has died of coronavirus infection.

They died at Rajarbagh Police Hospital on Saturday morning, said Farid Ahmed, director (IT) of the environment department.

He said that Rafiq Ahmed was admitted to hospital after being diagnosed with the coronavirus in the last week of March. He was on life support.

He is scheduled to be buried in Chittagong after Janazah in front of the Environment Department office in Agargaon.

Rafiq Ahmed joined the BCS administration cadre in 1991 after studying zoology at Dhaka University. He later took a PhD degree. Was a member of BCS 10th batch.

Farid said many officials, including the director administration, director (law) and deputy director (IT) of the environment department, were infected with the coronavirus.

Mourning over the death of the Director General of the Department of Environment

Minister of Environment, Forests and Climate Change mourned the death of Director General of the Department of Environment Rafiq Ahmed. Shahab Uddin, Deputy Minister Habibun Nahar, Secretary Ziaul Hasan NDC and officials and employees of the department.

In his condolence message, the environment minister said AKM Rafiq Ahmed was an officer of honest, efficient and attractive personality. He has dedicated his life to protecting the environment and tackling the adverse effects of climate change in the country.

Deputy Minister Habibun Nahar also expressed his condolences over the death of the Director General.
