8 killed in Indonesia earthquake


A strong earthquake has hit Indonesia again. The quake hit off the coast of the country's island of Java on Saturday. 

The epicenter was reported at 5.9 on the Richter scale, according to the Indonesia Geological Survey. 

The quake killed at least seven people and damaged hundreds of buildings in several cities. No tsunami alert was issued in the country after the quake.

The quake was also felt on Bali Island, which is famous for tourism. Ida Magfiroh, a resident of the coastal area of ​​the island of Java, said the quake was quite strong and it lasted for a long time. Everything was swaying.

Reuters said it was not clear if the death toll was expected to rise, nor did it say if anyone was missing.
